Introduction

Skinfluence Clinic is committed to ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of all personal information provided. We follow the terms and conditions as per Schedule 1 of the Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012, forming part of the Privacy Act 1988.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and disclose your personal information, how you may access that information and how you may seek the correction of any information. It also explains how you may make a complaint about a breach of privacy legislation.

This Privacy Policy is current from 31 August 2019. From time to time we may make changes to our policy, processes and systems in relation to how we handle your personal information. We will update this Privacy Policy to reflect any changes, and make it available on our website and in the practice.

Collection

Skinfluence Clinic collects essential information to provide you with medical care and manage our specialist practice. This includes your contact details, health history, billing information, and photos/videos for monitoring your skin condition, stored securely in our records.

We primarily collect information directly from you but may also obtain it from other
healthcare providers involved in your care. Information is gathered through various
methods, including in-person, phone, email, or online interactions. In emergencies, we may collect information from your relatives or friends. We are also required by law to retain certain medical records for specific periods. For safety and security, our premises are monitored by CCTV, which may collect personal information in compliance with the Privacy Act.

Use and Disclosure

We treat your personal information as strictly private and confidential, using or disclosing it only for purposes directly related to your care and treatment or as you would reasonably expect for your ongoing care. For instance, sharing blood test results with your specialist.

In certain situations, we may be legally required or permitted to disclose your information to third parties, such as Medicare, Police, insurers, solicitors, regulatory bodies, courts, hospitals, or the MyHealth Record system. Occasionally, we may provide statistical data to third parties for research purposes.

We may also share your information with outside contractors, like IT service providers or debt collection agents, to perform tasks on our behalf. We ensure they meet strict security and confidentiality standards and only use your information for the activities we've assigned to them.

Data Quality & Security

We take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is accurate, complete, up-to-date, and relevant. To maintain accuracy, our staff may ask you to confirm your contact details during consultations. We also encourage you to inform us if any information wehold about you is incorrect or outdated.

Your personal information is protected by:

  • Securing our premises,
  • Using passwords and access levels on databases to prevent unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure of electronic information, and
  • Storing physical records in locked cabinets and secure rooms.

Children's Privacy

Our products and services are not targeted at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under this age.
