A lesion removal treatment involves the use of an electrical device called a Hyfrecator to remove clinically diagnosed benign skin lesions. If lesions are suspicious, lesion removal will be biopsied using an aseptic technique and sent away for pathological testing. This will be discussed with your practitioner. 

A consultation is required.

  • If indicated, a topical numbing agent can be applied prior to treatment or injected with local anaesthetic.
  • A thorough assessment of the lesion is carried out followed by skin cleansing to remove any surface oils and debris.
  • After cleansing the treatment area, a hyfrecator device may be used to remove the lesion of concern.
  • Following the treatment, after care and advice will be explained thoroughly by your Skinfluencer.

Common questions

Immediately after treatment:
Depending on the type of lesion removed, a small wound is created. There will be some redness and local, transient swelling.

7-10 days following treatment:

  • From approximately day two, some micro-crusting may can be present. Redness and swelling will have subsided.
  • For larger skin tags and seborrheic keratoses, these will drop off during this period.
  • Milia will be re-absorbed by the body or extracted with a comedone extractor.
  • After care will be applied until the small wound has completely healed which may taking up to 10 days depending on the location of the lesion.
  • 24 hours: excessive exercise, exposure to dirty or dusty environments, hot showers or sauna use.
  • 2-5 days: anti-acne skin cares, topical vitamin A (retinols)
  • 1 week: shaving or hair trimming.
  • 6 weeks: exfoliating products (AHA, BHA ingredients, scrubs), waxing, plucking or depilatory use. IPL or laser hair treatment or skin rejuvenation. Sun exposure. Facial or other chemical exfoliation treatments. Microdermabrasion. Anti-wrinkle and dermal filler injections.
